Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. It's not a box we tick. It's a commitment we make to every young person, every session, every week.

Our approach
Young people come to The Outside Club to be themselves, to push their limits, and to feel safe doing it. That trust is something we take seriously.
Safeguarding isn't a policy that sits in a drawer. It shapes how we recruit, how we train, how we run sessions, and how we respond when something doesn't feel right. Every adult who works with us understands this.
Our commitments
Every staff member and regular volunteer holds a current enhanced DBS check. No exceptions.
All staff complete safeguarding training before working with young people, and refresh it regularly.
We never have a single adult alone with a young person. Two-deep supervision is standard practice at every session.
We have a written safeguarding policy and clear procedures for reporting concerns — internally and to external agencies.
We actively create space for young people to raise concerns, and take every concern seriously.
Our safeguarding policy is reviewed annually and whenever there are changes in legislation or best practice guidance.
For parents & carers
We know that handing over responsibility for your child (even for a few hours) takes trust. We don't take that lightly.
If you have any questions about how we manage safeguarding, what checks our staff hold, or what to do if you have a concern, please get in touch. We're always happy to talk.

If you have a safeguarding concern about a young person, about how a session was run, or about anything else, please contact us directly. You can also contact your local authority children's services or, in an emergency, call 999.
Our full safeguarding policy is available to download below. If you would like a printed copy, please get in touch.
Every session is free. Every young person is welcome.
